The little panda (Ailurus fulgens) is the mascot of the Hailuogou Scenic Area. It has a petite body, a slender figure, and bright fur, making it more beautiful than the giant panda.  

         The red panda, also known as the "little panda" or "red panda", is also known as Shanche Wa, Shanmen Ju, or Golden Dog. Belonging to the Carnivorous Order and Raccoon Family. The body is slightly plump like a domestic cat, with a round head and thick tail, short and strong limbs, a length of 40-45 centimeters, and a fur color of brown red at the upper part and black brown at the lower part. The area around the mouth and ears is white, and the face is deep red with a few white spots. Elephants in the bear family have 5 toes on each foot, and when connected, their entire sole touches the ground. However, they have an extremely beautiful long tail trailing behind them, exceeding half of their body length, with fluffy dense fur and 9 red, yellow, and white striped rings. Therefore, they are also known as "nine jointed wolves".

          Red pandas prefer warmth and are relatively cold resistant. They often roam in dense forests at an altitude of 1700-3000 meters, especially in the bamboo forests and moss forests around Qianfoding and Wanfoding, which are natural playgrounds. I like to eat young branches, tender leaves, and bamboo shoots of bamboo, as well as wild fruits, birds, and bird eggs. I enjoy cleanliness and wipe my face with my forelimbs after eating. At dawn and dusk, they go out to search for food everywhere, and at noon and night, they hide in dead tree holes or caves to rest and sleep. Extremely agile in skills, skilled at climbing trees, able to climb to very high and thin branches to rest or avoid enemies. Mating during spring heat, using dead tree holes or rock holes as nests, with a gestation period of about 4 months, giving birth in June and July, with 2-3 offspring per litter. The lifespan is about 12 years. In winter, I like to bask in the sun in sunny places from high places.
