Kingdonia uniflora Balf. f. & W. W. Sm.

Primarily distributed in the Gongga Mountain Nature Reserve, this species is classified as a National Grade I Protected Plant in China.

A perennial herbaceous plant of the Circaeasteraceae family and Kingdonia genus, Kingdonia uniflora exhibits the following characteristics:

Rhizome: Slender and elongated

Leaves: Basal, cordate-orbicular in shape with finely toothed margins and glaucous-green undersides

Flowers: Solitary, terminal on scapes; bisexual with pale green ovate sepals (petals absent); anthers elliptic; styles subulate

Fruit: Compressed achenes, narrowly oblanceolate and recurved

Seeds: White

Flowering/Fruiting Period: April to July

The plant's name ("Single-leaf Grass") derives from its distinctive morphology - each plant bears just one leaf and one flower.
